Antiviral therapy

Oseltamivir (Tamiflu)

• 75 mg bid x 5 days (about $30)
• available in 30, 45, 75 mg generic
• may cause headache, vomiting
• reduce symptom duration by about 3 days
• Greatest benefit if given in first 48 hr of illness.
• May still effective after 48 hr

Baloxavir (Xofluza)

• Dose
  • 40 mg one dose, for weight < 80kg
  • 80 mg ione dose, for weight > 80kg
  • Cost: 2 tab of 40 mg about $180
  • main side effect: diarrhea
